While helping you look good, you can also feel good knowing that each of our tagua accessories provides opportunity for women to have a better life.
Our partners, Piel Acida, have been working to improve women's lives in Bogota for over a decade. Here are some of their thoughts that they want to share with you:
Rosa
Rosa is a single mother of two boys, ages 18 and 16, both who have children. Working as an artisan has allowed her the ability to care for her children and grandchildren and grow as an independent woman.
“Working with handicrafts is my life and I love what I do each day. I have been an artisan for more than 10 years, starting with collecting raw materials and then being trained to be a skilled craftsperson. The work is very comfortable and satisfying and I enjoy the relationships with the people I work with – they are like my second family."
Without much formal education, Rosa has taken the initiative to learn computer skills so that she can be involved with the management of the work as well as the production, providing her with even greater opportunity for growth and advancement.
“I have grown a lot since I started working, and with my computer skills I am now involved in the exportation and documentation process. I think the sky is the limit for me. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t have the chance to study when I was young – with this work I know I will be growing everyday and I can take care of myself and my family.”
