Elana
Elana was the first woman to work with Arte Comasagua. She has 3 daughters Marcella (17), Krisia (13), and Amelia (11) that she raises alone.
She used to work at a fireworks factory near the capital, San Salvador - work she called "hard and unpleasant". The long commute each day also kept her away from her family and she felt she was losing control of her children.
“It is better to work here and be with my family – the work is much better too and I enjoy what I do. I can work when I want and have control over my family. There is much less pressure and I am free to use my time as I think is best."
Her dream is to have the security of owning a home. “There are a lot of things I want – for a lot of needs. But little by little with this work I have the opportunity to get there."
